Duck, Duck, Rhubarb • Farm to Fork Dinner • Medford, OR • To-Die-For Delicious

From East to West Coast, A Photographer's Road Trip
The highlight of the trip has been the Farm to Fork dinner we attended at the Fry Family Farm in Medford, OR! Truly a delightful evening. First we got a tour of the beautiful farm from one of the owners himself, then we sipped wine and enjoyed bruschetta and fresh asparagus appetizers while chatting with other attendees, and finally sat down family style to enjoy one of the best meals of my life. The entire dinner had an underlying duck theme, which isn't typically my favorite meat, but boy was it prepared well!
HOST FARM: Fry Family Farm
FEATURED WINERY: Abacela Winery
FEATURED PRODUCERS: Rogue Valley Brambles Poultry
FARM TO FORK CHEF: Braden Hitt of Smithfields
Really love the logo for "farm-to-fork"/"farm-to-table"

Dr. Seuss trees greeted us as we entered the farm.

Flowers sprouting from one of the compost piles that much of the town of Medford, OR brings their compost to.
Farm-to-table refers to a movement concerned with producing food locally and delivering that food to local consumers. Linked to the local food movement, the movement is promoted by some in the agriculturefood service, and restaurant communities. It may also be associated with organic farming initiatives, sustainable agriculture, and community-supported agriculture.

The lovely gentleman on the left celebrated his 70th birthday at the dinner! Best 70th birthday party I can think of.

Our farm tour was led by Steven Fry, of Fry Family Farms (pictured below is Steven in his official farm shirt). His wife Suzanne Fry started the farm many years ago and has been selling their produce at local Farmer's Markets since.

The sun began to set over the farm as the dinner was coming to a close.
They just started using solar power this year, and Steven was pretty excited about the results.

  1. Fantastic Pictures, Jessica! So glad you were able to join us, and eve happier that you enjoyed the evening.
I have a random proposition for you, since Erin and I enjoyed your pictures so much. We're looking for a photographer for one of our Portland area events this summer. Our regular photographer had something come up. Would you be interested in working with us? Give me a shout at 503.473.3952 when you have the chance.
