From East to West Coast, A Photographer's Road Trip
The Empress of Little Rock Bed and Breakfast in Little Rock, AR could not have been more charming. This beautifully restored historic home was awarded the #4 Most Romantic in the United States. Upon late arrival we were greeted warmly with glasses of wine at the door by the Innkeeper and daughter of the owner who were still up cleaning after an intimate wedding held earlier that day. The original mansion was built exclusively with Arkansas materials in 1888 and has been described in the National register of Historic Places as the best example of ornate Victorian Architecture in Arkansas and the most important existing example of Gothic Queen Anne style regionally. The front entrance is a half-round space with a beautiful fresco painted on the ceiling and cherubs flying just below. The lavish interior really makes you feel like you have stepped into the past.
The mix of old portraits and newer portraits is quite a style contrast.
The current owners are pictured on the right.
The secret card room in the attic was my favorite feature of the b&b.
Just look at that lighting!
Homemade pear sorbet made a delightful start for breakfast. Yum!
